چکیده

Four catheterized crossbred (Y x H) barrows were used in a 4 x 4 latin square arrangement of treatments in a completely randomized block design, to determine the effect of source on copper uptake as determined by serum Cu concentration changes over a 7.5-hr sampling period. Dietary treatments were: (A) basal with no added Cu, (B) basal + 5.2 mg Cu (from CuSO4)/kg of diet, (C) basal + 5.2 mg Cu (EDTA chelated Cu)/kg of diet, and (D) basal + 5.2 mg Cu (from CuSO4) + 34.1 mg ethylene diamine tetra acetic acid (EDTA)/kilogram of diet. Animals were placed on the semi-purified basal diet for 5 days, fasted for 1 day and then given their dietary treatment. Following consumption of the dietary treatment, blood samples were collected from each animal at 15-min intervals for 3.0 hr and at 1.5-hr intervals over the remaining 4.5 hr of a 7.5-hr sampling period. The samples were collected via jugular catheters and during the 4-week trial each animal was exposed to all dietary treatments. Serum Cu concentration was not significantly (P< .05) affected by dietary treatment. However serum Cu concentrations did change significantly (P< .05) during the 7.5-hr sampling period. A significant 3Department of Animal Science. Acknowledgement is made to John Welch and Larry MeMullen for their assistance with the conduct of the experiment and development of certain laboratory procedures. (P< .01) animal x sampling time interaction was also observed. The results indicate that prechelated Cu or dietary additions of EDTA had little influence on the efficiency of Cu uptake by swine. Sampling time following consumption of a diet was important as evident from the reflected changes in serum Cu concentration.

تأثیر روی و مس و شکل‌های شیمیایی آنها بر رشد و ترکیب شیمیایی برنج در یک خاک آهکی

Due to low availability of zinc and copper in calcareous soils and the antagonism of these nutrients with each other, the study of their effects on growth and chemical composition of rice seems to have great importance. Also, the relations among different chemical forms of Zn and Cu and plant responses are very important, which can be used in investigation of antagonisms of these nutrients as w...

Toxicity and Bioconcentration of Cadmium and Copper in Artemia Urmiana Nauplii

Background: Artemia urmiana are small crustaceans that because of its non-selective filter feeder pattern potentially may absorb high level of heavy metals through their living environment. In this study, the effects of different levels of cadmium and copper on survival, catalase activity and metals bioconcentration rates in A. urmiana nauplii have been investigated. Methods: The research wa...

Preparation of Nanochitosan as an Effective Sorbent for the Removal of Copper Ions from Aqueous Solutions

The most important pollutants in wastewater are heavy metal ions. In this paper, the effects of various parameters such as pH, contact time, initial concentration, and temperature on the adsorption of Cu (II) by nanochitosan (NCS) was investigated in batch experiment. Nanochitosan was prepared based on ionic gelation and characterized by means of Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR),...

Adsorption of Lead and Copper by a Carbon Black and Sodium Bentonite Composite Material: Study on Adsorption Isotherms and Kinetics

The efficiency of using a composite of carbon black and sodium bentonite in treating drinking water contaminated with lead and copper ions was analysed. The effects of pH, contact time, concentration and adsorbent dosage using an adsorbent composite of 20 % sodium bentonite and 80 % carbon black were studied. The adsorption data was tested with respect to Langmuir, Freundlich and Temkin iso...
